Humble:
1. adjective. A humble person is not proud and does not believe that they are better than other people. This concept is quickly becoming a value of the past, if it hasn’t already. Humility regardless of gender, orientation, or species is what’s needed for civil discourse, decision-making, and progress. What’s more, it’s the lack of humility that has led us down this path of deaf ears, reaffirming in our own echo chambers, and isolating groups that did not want to be a part of the conversation in the first place.
What is it? Think of the most humble person you know, and that is it. This person more than likely has a good sense of self. Not one that is inflated or uses others’ differences to get gain. But more, they are confident in who they are and can validate themselves.
They are empathetic. They know their own limitations and work hard to accept or improve them. In turn, they strive to have an understanding of others’ plights and emotions.
They value relationships based on mutual respect, not accomplishments or status.
They are wise, which is the application of intelligence with matters of the mind and the heart.
They are patient. When they speak, it comes from a place of self reflection and intuitive thought, and is not reactionary or meant to degrade.
Straight Humble is coming from a place where we feel humility should be sought after once again. Let’s take a long hard look at yourself and invite you to aspire to these qualities.
